THE B HIERARCHY AKA THE WOODEN IDOL

"I almost wish I hadn't gone down that rabbit-hole—and yet—and yet—it's rather curious, you know, this sort of life!" ALICE IN WONDERLAND

How deep do you go?

Where does it end, actually more to the point where does it begin?

Who knows!

Below is where I am now, the B Hierarchy aka The Wooden Idol, a collection of strange paradoxes that are (slightly sticks his neck out) apparently unsolvable Think of it like a list of unknown unknowns that were born from the negation of The H Hierarchy. They are apparently lurking in mathematics and science and causing all kinds of interesting reactions and trouble. You only need to watching YouTube videos about quantum this and general that to see how the INSIDE INSIDE trap weaves its elaborate self-reflective web.  I am careful to speak of it as technically I am in it! :)

But the best way to illustrate it is getting you dear reader to play with it. Below, just before The Wooden Idol challenge,  is a growing number of interactive digital art programs that help to illustrate each of the elements that make The B Hierarchy. Sometimes these elements get very fruity and merge it seems. Mostly they cause enough problems on their own. In a good way. If you look closely you will get a glimpse of something profound, and then it gently disappears, always one step ahead.

B2 - MAKE YOUR CHAOS

B4 - KARLSSON’S KNIGHTS

B4 - KARLSSON’S KNIGHTS

B2 is a double pendulum following completely fixed rules that still never swings the same way twice because the smallest difference in where it started becomes the largest difference in where it goes, so the fixedness is what guarantees the loss rather than preventing it, drawing a picture that lasts only while it keeps moving and dissolving back into mere lines and geometry the moment you ask it to hold, so when you save one you freeze the single thing it was never doing, stopping, and every picture you keep is the moment it lost, the one still frame the drawing was made of forgetting.

B4 - KARLSSON’S KNIGHTS

B4 is a game of mutual avoidance played on a number spiral by knights that do not all move the same way, so each piece forbids the others according to its own private geometry and the picture is the negotiation between rules that were never going to agree, frozen at the move you happened to be watching, and because what you see at arm's length is a field of colours and what you see up close is a mosaic of four-quadrant quilts, the same image is two pictures depending on how near you stand, neither of them the one the rule was actually playing.

B7 - CHASE THE GHOST

B4 - KARLSSON’S KNIGHTS

B11 - THE NUMBER YOU CANNOT WRITE

B7 is a single thread that reads the picture it has already drawn and compares what it sees to the ghost of your uploaded photo, then lays one more line that corrects the guess it just made while admitting a new one, so every stroke is at once an arrival and an apology, the portrait becoming a different portrait with every pass, getting steadily closer and falling short in the same gesture, so you don't finish a B7 portrait, you only choose the moment to walk away from a chase that was always still a little short of the face it was reaching for.

B11 - THE NUMBER YOU CANNOT WRITE

B11 - THE NUMBER YOU CANNOT WRITE

B11 - THE NUMBER YOU CANNOT WRITE

B11 is a shape you place with your own hands and then watch hollow itself out forever, the centre removed, then the centre of every surviving piece removed, and then the centre of every centre of every surviving piece removed, the same gesture repeating at a smaller scale and then a smaller scale and then a scale you cannot draw, and the number governing how completely it fills space is irrational and unwriteable, present in every hole at every depth and locatable in none, so what you save is one frozen still of a sculpture whose dimension you can feel but never finish reading.

B12 - TURNS THROUGH ITSELF

B11 - THE NUMBER YOU CANNOT WRITE

B3 - THE LINE THAT PAINTS ITSELF

B12 is a four-dimensional cube turning through planes you cannot point to, and because your eyes live in three dimensions you never see the cube itself, only its shadow folding out through itself and back in, the depth your eyes try to read into the shape having nothing to map onto since the dimension being lost is one you never had to lose, so the solid you watch breathing and devouring its own centre is really one rigid shape held perfectly still inside a turn you cannot face, and every frame you keep saves the shadow but loses the turn that was never moving at all.

B3 - THE LINE THAT PAINTS ITSELF

B11 - THE NUMBER YOU CANNOT WRITE

B3 - THE LINE THAT PAINTS ITSELF

B3 is a line let loose to wander and never settle, drifting on without repeating or coming to rest, yet held the whole time inside a shape it never chose and never leaves, kept bounded by something that steadies it whenever it strays too far, so when you look for the thing doing the holding it is nowhere in the figure, only its effect is, and what you save is the steadying without the hand that steadies, the held line and never the hold. And the extra bonus, this gives you some Euro Lottery numbers to prove the point by over stretching the point. The line defined violates B3.
