These Map Painting Collaborations extend the spirit of IT VOIDS, inviting others into the same territory of instinct, disruption, and renewal that drives Marc Craig’s work. Each participant receives two large Ordnance Survey maps: one already marked by Craig’s hand, the other left blank to begin anew. This way, both artists share the roles of originator and respondent — each stepping first into uncharted ground, then grappling with what someone else has left behind.

There’s an honesty in this exchange. By working over each other’s marks, artists become part of a dialogue that mirrors the very cycles at the heart of IT VOIDS: the rush of raw creation, the tension of making and disrupting, and the unpredictable renewal that follows. It’s a process that leaves room for instinct and accident, encouraging a direct engagement with one’s own creative impulses — or shadows, to borrow from Jungian language. Archetypes emerge and dissolve across the maps, figures half-formed or fully unbound, offering glimpses into shared and private terrains.

There’s also something deeply therapeutic in finding a voice here, especially when the wider world seems so keen to suppress it. Participants are urged to go wherever the work demands — to overwrite, expand, or transform without hesitation. Whether the result is tender or chaotic, polished or raw, it stands as evidence of a personal journey.

All finished works will first be shown online, with hopes of bringing them into a physical space that celebrates this fearless exchange. Each map becomes a small, foldable portal into places more psychological than geographic — carrying forward the ethos of getting lost to find one’s way.
